Young, who scored United's opening goal in the 2-0, round of 32, first-leg victory at the Amsterdam Arena, was named by former Old Trafford captain Keane, along with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, as players with 'a lot to do,' and in need of being told to 'buck their ideas up' following the 2-1 defeat against Basle last December.

"Obviously it was disappointing to go out of the Champions League but that is in the past and we've got to look forward to this competition (Europa League) now."

Young's appearance against Ajax was only his second first-team outing since suffering a foot and ankle injury during the 5-0 victory at Fulham on Dec 21.

Having started the season well following his £15m summer move from Villa, Young admits he is now determined to return to form and fitness as quickly as possible -- an issue which has become more relevant with Antonio

Valencia being ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury sustained against Ajax.

Young said: "I've only had two games back after being out for six weeks, but with game time, I will get myself back fully fit.

"I'm glad to be back. I was on the sidelines and I just wanted to get back out there and start playing again.

"For any player, being injured is the worst thing. I've not had too many injuries but being out for six weeks was annoying. I just wanted to get back fully fit.

"I've enjoyed it a lot at Manchester United and there is plenty to come from me. There are plenty of games and points to win and this competition to look forward to."

United will face a last 16 tie against Lokomotiv Moscow or Athletic Bilbao if they safely negotiate next Thursday Old Trafford second-leg against Ajax.

And despite concerns that prolonged in the Europa League could jeopardise United's domestic ambitions, Young insists that Europe and the Premier League are dual priorities.

"Every game is going to be a tough game from here." Young said.

"As long as we go out there, concentrate on ourselves and produce the sort of performances that have been coming in the last few weeks, hopefully at the end if the season it will be good enough to win the title.

"Success for us would be winning the title race and winning this competition. That's what we're involved in and that's what we want to do.

"And getting the result in Amsterdam and scoring two goals away sets us up nicely for the home game."
