Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could well be turning his attentions away from
Benfica star Nicolas Gaitan.

The Mirror claims Ferguson is understood to have been set a spending limit of around £30 million to spend in the summer.

However, Gaitan is expected to leave Benfica for not less than £35 million.

The playmaker is said to have a release clause of around that figure written into his contract and United's neighbours Manchester City are believed to be willing to meet it.

United may instead switch their attention to Gaitan's team-mate, Javi Garcia, a more defensive-minded midfielder who also impressed when they met the Red Devils in the Champions League this season.
