Partrick Vieira has backed Manchester City to win the Premier League title, claiming they remind him of Arsenal's Invincibles.
Vieira skippered Arsene Wenger's legendary champions, who went unbeaten throughout the 2003-04 campaign, and says Roberto Mancini is creating the same spirit at City.
Vieira, who hung up his boots last summer to become City's football development executive, says the Blues can beat Manchester United in the title race because Mancini has unified the dressing room behind him.
"Why this team reminds me of Arsenal is that the focus is there as a team," said the Gunners legend. "What I really like about this team and makes me remember Arsenal, is the atmosphere in the dressing room.
"There is a group of lads, who have a really strong relationship. They are really friendly and really strong.
"At Arsenal I liked going to training every day because the atmosphere was really good and I feel at City it is the same.
"I feel the club and Roberto have created this relationship with the players, who like to be together, who like to spend time together - that's the start to success. Players who want to achieve the same objective.
"At Arsenal we believed in ourselves. Our self-belief was really high. Maybe some people will say that was arrogance, but it was just self-belief. We knew we were good enough to win the league – I believe that is what's happening at City."
Vieira knows what it takes to beat United in the title race, having managed it three times with Arsenal, and says City will win because they are the best team.
He accepts that United have the greater know-how when it comes to winning the Premier League, but pointed to the huge experience in City's squad.
"What is important is, I think, as a team we are better than United," said the Frenchman. "It's in our hands to win the title.
"We are a better side than United. When you look at our team and how we played since the start of the season and you look at how United have played since the start of the season, the fact is that we are better than them.
"We've got the best goalkeeper in the league, maybe in Europe. I believe Joe Hart is up there with Casillas and Neuer as the best goalkeeper in the world.
"Our back four is working really hard for each other. We have one of the best players in the world with David Silva, and Yaya Toure has also been fantastic for us this season.
"Gareth Barry is playing the best football he has every played. I believe we have the team to win the league. Every ingredient is there to do it.
"But United know how to win. Alex Ferguson knows the league better than anybody else. They win titles year after year. They know what to do to win the league.
"As a club it's quite new for us to be in that situation. But we have players with experience, we have a manager with the experience, we have the desire to do it and the focus is there."
Vieira says winning the FA Cup last season gave City the confidence to believe that they can win the title this year.
"Winning the FA Cup gives you a belief that you can challenge anybody else in the league," he said. "When you look at our squad, we have 20 players, who are all internationals.
"They're all young and really ambitious. They have come here to write the story of the football club and to win the league."
